The Blackberry Café is situated on the corner of the main street in Thomastown, County Kilkenny and provides a traditional atmosphere complete with fresh, home-made baking and principally organic and locally sourced ingredients and produce. Good local suppliers have been central to the good reputation The Blackberry Café has gained since opening. Local suppliers are at the heart of the food offering, and serve dishes using David Ward Organic Vegetables, Knockdrinna Cheese, Tess’s Bakery Bread and Cramer's Grove Ice Cream.
Originally an old shoemaker’s shop, the building has been lovingly and extensively restored, retaining the eighteenth century frontage, with its characteristic large Georgian-paneled windows now painted a fresh tea green, and adorned with a magnificent sculptural blackberry. The bright, airy interior has a comfortably minimal style, with a custom-made, hand-built counter displaying the mouth-watering cakes, tarts and scones, which are freshly baked daily.
