Country Choice

Peter and Mary Ward’s passion for good food is palpable as soon as you set foot inside their wonderfully busy eatery and deli, Country Choice, in Nenagh, County Tipperary. All food is made from scratch daily.

Country Choice is an award winning independent delicatessen, café and supply business which was established by Peter and Mary Ward in 1982. The shop is still in its original 200-year-old premises on Kenyon Street in the traditional market town of Nenagh in County Tipperary.

Country Choice's reputation precedes it. Peter Ward is a local food icon – a mover and shaker who makes things happen on the Irish culinary scene. And it all started here, at his own vibrant, 'packed-to-the-rafters-with-good-things-to-eat' shop in the heart of Nenagh.

Peter chose the location of Country Choice because of its connections with local food - there were butchers and grocers on the same street in those days, and it seemed an ideal place to start. Over the last 25 years, Country Choice has stuck to its core principles of sourcing food locally and promoting the work of the best in Irish artisan producers, both in the region and nationally.

Now his shop is a shrine for gourmets, and the pavement outside is well-trod by locals and visitors alike.

Country Choice is a Good Food Ireland Member.
