Books@One provides a range of activities such as coffee mornings for local charities, book and poetry readings, storytelling, open mics, book signings and general comings and goings. This is a place to find out what’s going on in the area, enjoy a coffee, a browse and a chat or just relax in one of the cosy armchairs or courtyard.
Boasting a modern and very comfortable interior, having been set up by a philanthropic foundation to benefit the area by promoting literature and the arts, encouraging social inclusion and play a modest part in regeneration, this book shop is a must visit in the scenic coastal town of Louisburgh, less than a mile from the beach. Check out the Cow Shed, a cosy nook to lose yourself in pre loved books. That’s where Shelley’s story time takes place every Saturday from 11:15 to 12:00 noon for kids of all ages and admission is free.
There’s co working space available for a very reasonable fee, where locals and visitors can work in a relaxed and modern environment with strong WiFi. It also includes a meeting room and creative space with nice views over land and sea.
The Book Shop is full of surprises, from the warm welcome to the likelihood of bumping into an author dropping off their books or an impromptu performance by a poet staying in the volunteer run accommodation above the bookshop. There is also a book machine which prints books.
