The teaSHED is a 50 seater coffee shop at Glencar Waterfall serving specialty teas, locally roasted coffee, delightful treats, freshly baked scones, and bread.

The teaSHED is a coffee shop located beside the 50ft high Glencar Waterfall, approximately 11km west of Manorhamiton and 12km east of Sligo in County Leitrim. The teaSHED stocks locally produced arts and crafts and features an adjoining public play park for kids.

From the late 1800s to the early 1900s, the owner's great aunts ran a tea house in Glencar. Photographs of the original tea house, along with original visitors' books and artifacts are on display in the teaSHED.

While not the highest waterfall in the area, Glencar Waterfall is generally considered the most romantic and impressive. Formed by glaciers, Glencar Lake lies in the scenic Glencar Valley, which itself is worth visiting for the amazing scenery alone.

W.B. Yeats used to visit the waterfall and the old Siberry Tea House in the area. Not surprisingly, he found Glencar inspirational. He wrote about the fairies and changelings of Irish folklore in his poem, 'The Stolen Child', inspired by his passion for Irish mythology and the beauty of Glencar Waterfall.

A footbridge provides access from the waterfall carpark to the teaSHED and the playground.

The teaSHED is open seven days a week from April to October, and on weekends in winter. It is also available to book for events outside opening times.

With various desserts, your choice of freshly made sandwiches, wraps and paninis, along with salads and homemade soups, it's the perfect place for a pick-me-up. Gluten-free options are also available.

“……….Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild With a faery, hand in hand, For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand. Where the wandering water gushes From the hills above Glen-Car, In pools among the rushes, That scarce could bathe a star,…..”
