Kai Restaurant
Galway City, Co. Galway
Kai Restaurant is located on Sea Road in Galway’s Westend. The Galway neighbourhood is famous for the unique characters that live there as much as it is now famed for its food, pub scene and café culture.

Kai is the Maori word for food and in 2011 they opened the door with a simple formula, quality produce, preferably organic or wild, sourced locally and cooked intelligently.

Kai Restaurants stone floors and subtle nod to home interior means that as soon as walking through the door, there is a sense of having been here before. Kai Restaurant evokes memories through their food because it is from memories that Jess Murphy is most inspired. There's two things for Jess when it comes to food, it has to taste great and visually, it has to be amazing.

With the stove fired up in the colder months, Kai Restaurant is a place that people go to read the paper, have a warm scone or croissant and have a morning meeting with a friend or neighbour. There is no WiFi in Kai, it’s not a place where guests want to be on the phone, unless taking pictures of the beautiful interior or the food that is bring served.

Lunch is served daily, and dishes are change daily. Sustainability and ethical sourcing is paramount to what Kai is all about, what’s in season will be on the plate. Dinner at Kai Restaurant is a feast of locally sourced fish, game, meat all served with the freshest and seasonal vegetables.

Jess and the team at Kai have won many awards for service, food and for creativity in the kitchen. Awards like Food & Wine Magazine best restaurant, Jess has won Food & Wine Magazine Best Chef in Connacht, Best Casual Dining at the Hotel and Catering Review Awards and Kai has also won best Service at the Food & Wine Restaurant Awards.
