The course was ranked In the world top-100 courses by Golf (USA) and others. Holes seven, 13 and 14 are ranked amongst the 500 greatest holes in the world. Design features include the world’s longest green (128yd) at the 12th and very deep bunkers lined with railway sleepers for maximum definition and intimidation. In 2007 and 2008, the European Club hosted the Irish Professional Championship in the week before the British Open to prepare Padraig Harrington for the latter event, which he went on to win both years.
