Greenan Maze is located in the beautiful Wicklow Mountains, 6kms from Rathdrum and only 1 hour south of Dublin. It is a working hill farm run by the Wheeler Family. Greenan Maze has the Celtic Maze and the Solstice Maze. The Celtic Maze is half an acre of local broadleaf beech trees from Aughrim and the Solstice Maze is a relaxing pathway set within a large stone circle. Greenan Maze also has three farm museums, wild nature walks, a treasure hunt, fairy tree trails and farm animals. There is also a crafts shop, café and lots of sheltered picnic tables.
The farm museums display exhibits from over 200 years of traditional farming life including, a traditional farmhouse museum, bottle museum and farm barn with horse drawn implements. The nature trail is a tranquil walk which meanders by Ballinanty Brook through unspoilt countryside and a wildlife nature reserve. It leads to the Dragonfly Walk which is a raised wooden walkway winding through native woodlands and wetlands.
The treasure hunt is a daily event during the summer months, solve the clues and find the treasure. The fairy tree trail is a gentle stroll which teaches you how to identify native trees on the special fairy doors.
The coffee shop offers light lunches, sandwiches, cakes and snacks as well as tasty organic coffee. The craft shop stocks a selection of local handmade soaps, baskets, jewellery, pottery, knitwear, weaving, stained glass, jams and preserves.
