Courtown Beach is located approximately 6 kilometres south east of Gorey. Coastal erosion has depleted the beach significantly around the village so access and lifeguards have been moved northwards to cater for the crowd concentrations.
The beach is made up of fine sand and has extensive coastal protection works all along the boundary between the dunes/woodland and the beach itself. The village of Courtown is located around a harbour and canal system. The beach itself is relatively narrow around the main access points but expands in width the further north you travel.
Lifeguards are on duty during the summer months and more information can be found on the notice boards located at the beach.
