Cruising the Shannon River is one of the best ways to enjoy Ireland's natural beauty. Located in the heart of Ireland near Athlone, County Westmeath, Lough Ree Cruisers offers you the opportunity to experience the unique waterways in a self-drive cruiser.
Lough Ree's marina, constructed in stone and old railway sleepers and edged with a boardwalk and rockeries, blends perfectly into the natural surroundings of this secluded part of the lake. From the marina, a cruise south will take you through the leisurely River Shannon to the wider expanses of scenic Lough Derg. You can also enjoy a cruise north to the newly restored Shannon-Erne Waterway, through old world canals and the gently winding Woodford River to Lough Erne.
The cruiser is a six-berth, 1135 cruiser with plenty of space. It has two toilets and two showers, a saloon, galley, front and rear cabins, and comes fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, bed linen, and duvets. The sliding roof feature over the saloon area provides the option of open-air cruising and dining.
Staff will take you through all aspects of handling the cruiser, including a full test drive. For beginners or people with limited cruising experience, they provide additional tuition on the navigation and cruiser handling and, if necessary, their instructor will accompany you on your first hour or so on the water.
The local village of Glasson has attractive pubs, award-winning restaurants, a craft shop, and a supermarket which is open daily until 21:00. For golfers, there are two golf clubs on Lough Ree with access for cruisers. Fishing on the Shannon is also available.
From island to island, shore to shore, enjoy the changing scenery and sample the atmosphere of the local pubs and restaurants in the variety of towns and villages along your journey with Lough Ree Cruisers.
Cruisers can be hired on any day of the week and are available for day hire, short breaks, or weekly hire.
