In July, 1982 the Passage East Ferry Company made its first crossing with the FBD Dunbrody ferry. It replaced a small motor boat which used to take people across the estuary from Ballyhack, Coounty Wexford to Passage East, County Waterford for decades, now 36 years later the ferry is as popular as ever.
Situated just 10km from Waterford City there is a host of activities nearby on either side of the estuary, and just 45 minutes from Rosslare. See the world’s oldest operational lighthouse Hook Lighthouse, the haunted mansion Loftus Hall, the homestead of former U.S President John F. Kennedy, relive the journey from Ireland to America on the Dunbrody Famine Ship, cycle along Irelands longest greenway, visit the world-famous House of Waterford Crystal or retrace the steps of the Vikings within the Viking Triangle in Waterford City.
All this can be found close to the Scenic Passage East Ferry. Come experience Irelands Ancient East in the sunny south east. Multi trip tickets are available which are suitable to more regular users.
