Curraghmore House & Gardens is the spectacular home of the 9th Marquis of Waterford and his ancestors since 1170. It has an impressive 1,000 acres of formal gardens, woodland and grazing fields. Ireland’s largest private demesne is situated near Portlaw, in County Waterford.

Enjoy an enchanting stroll through the historic grounds of Curraghmore House & Gardens, in County Waterford. A Sitka spruce planted on the estate in the 1830s is one of the tallest trees in Ireland, and stands guard over King John's Bridge. Built in 1205, this stone arched structure spanning the Clodagh River, is one of the oldest bridges in Ireland. 20kms of famine relief boundary wall and four sturdy wrought iron gates surround this estate.

Take a guided tour of Curraghmore House, detailing the house and family history with a viewing of the original interior. See its vast furniture collection, art and architectural insights. Curraghmore House has some of the finest neo classical rooms in Ireland, which feature the magnificent plaster work of James Wyatt and grisaille panels by Peter de Gree.

The gardens at Curraghmore House include an ancient oak woodland, arboretum, a Shell House folly and beautiful terraces designed by the various Lady Waterford’s of the day. The unique shell grotto was built and decorated by Catherine Countess of Tyrone in 1754. Take a guided tour of this magical Shell House, followed by a garden visit with access to the estate's formal gardens. All guided tours must be arranged by prior appointment.

The Tea Rooms at Curraghmore House & Gardens are open at weekends only during the high season, or by prior appointment for large groups. Tasty homemade cakes, biscuits, tea, coffee and light refreshments are served here.
