Adults walking through bogland
More from visitors like you
This is an easy, 6.1km looped walk that takes you through the heart of a natural bogland.

This walk takes you on minor roads and bog roads into the heart of this bog habitat as it traverses an attractive and diverse landscape with fine views of Lough O’Flynn, the River Suck, open peatland, evergreen forestry, and typical bog scrubland. This walk has a very rural feel, as the surrounding lands aren't disturbed by the appearance of any housing or other buildings.

Routes:

A-B: From the map board, follow the green (and purple) arrows back to the road where you turn left. The purple arrows are for the longer Lake O’Flynn Bog Loop. Continue along the road for 400m to reach a stone bridge which crosses the River Suck. Turn right here onto a bog road.

B-C: Follow the bog road for almost 1km to reach a crossroads where the Lake O’Flynn Bog Loop turns left, but you proceed straight on. Now follow the green arrows along a bog road for another 500m to reach a surfaced roadway where you turn right and rejoin the Lake O’Flynn Loop.

C-A: The surfaced road takes you back to the main road where you turn right. From here, it’s only 300m back to the trailhead.
