Mary's Cottage Kitchen was built in the early 1800's and maintains many traditional features such as the stone wall exterior, open loft, exposed beams, flag floors and a good open fire. Mary's has been in existence since 1997 and has been recognised by a number of major travel guides such as Georgina Campbell and Bridgestone with further article publications in the Irish Independent and the Boston Globe.
Since its inception, owner and chief cook Mary Munnelly has made baking, ccoking simple wholesome meals and jam making her specialities. Homemade soups include mushroom, vegetable, carrot & corriander and smoked bacon and potato.
Wholesome dishes can be selected from a list such as various breakfast combos, quiche, smoked salmon, crabmeat, variety of salads, sandwiches and paninis. All served up with generous helpings of homemade brown bread (and some seasonal jams). All this can be followed up with some baked treats such as apple or rhubarb tart, lemon meringue, chocolate chip cookies, cheesecake and fruit scones.
Many of these treats are also available to take home along with a variety of jams such as blackcurrant, gooseberry, rhubarb and ginger, Seville orange marmalade, raspberry, apple and blackberry and chutney. If you strick a chilly day you can tuck in beside the real open fire or for those fine sunny days you can admire the sea views from the garden seating.
