Build a Bee Skep- Workshop
Free to visit
Join Pat Broderick to learn the processes of making a skep from coiled straw and briar bark at the National Museum of Ireland- Country Life.

For over 2,000 years, straw bee skeps have been used for keeping bees in Ireland. In order to extract the honey, the skeps were typically destroyed in the process and so, each year, a new skep had to be made.

This will be a day long course to learn some new skills and to contribute to building a traditional bee skep. Materials will be provided. Please note that due to the nature of the workshop, it will not be possible for participants to bring home their own skep.

This is a free event, suitable for adults. Booking required.

Email BookingsCountryLife@museum.ie or telephone the Bookings Office on +353 94 90 31751 to secure your place.
