The most northerly summit in Mayo, Bhinn Bhuí (Benwee Head) is equally popular with water sports enthusiasts and native birds. Take in the Atlantic Ocean from the north side or enjoy a walk over bogland and sheep paths to observe cultural and historical landmarks.
A popular site for scuba divers, kayakers and nesting seabirds, the Stags of Broadhaven, a group of four steep and rocky islets rising to almost 100m are visible a short distance offshore of An Bhinn Bhuí.
At approximately 13km long, the Head Loop is a spectacular walking trail which follows open bogland and sheep paths to grant access to dramatic cliffs with stunning ocean and expansive bog views. This route takes you past many sites of cultural, historical and environmental interest which include around the Ceathrú Thaidhg (Carrowteige) area and north Mayo’s living Gaeltacht.
