Carlingford Lough Ferry provides a car ferry service across Carlingford Lough that links Greenore in County Louth, with Greencastle in County Down.

Carlingford Lough Ferry takes you from the medieval town of Carlingford to the majestic Kingdom of Mourne, County Down, and the gateway to Northern Ireland.

The first car ferry was recorded in 1185 AD and in the 19th century, the Greenore to Greencastle ferry began carrying tourists. Today, choose from several guided tours such as the Taste of Cooley or Cúchulainn’s Country, which include the ferry crossing. See historic Greencastle Castle, marvel at Haulbowline Lighthouse and spot basking seals on the Green Islands.

The ferry trip is popular with kids, tell them to look out for Finn the dolphin who makes regular appearances in Carlingford Lough and afterwards, check out the outdoor activities at Carlingford Adventure Centre. Later, play a round at one of the nearby scenic golf courses in Greenore, Dundalk and Ardee or make time for a drive around the magnificent Cooley Mountains.
