Covering country lanes, river banks, forestry paths, woodland tracks, foot bridges, hill paths and one busy main road, the delightful Durrow Leafy Loop takes five hours to complete.
A strenuous trail, it’s relatively flat underfoot rising just 100m overall.
Starting and ending at Durrow’s village green, walkers are treated to stretches through mixed broadleaf and conifer woodland, lush farmland and swathes of bankside scenery along the majestic rivers Erkina and Nore.
You’ll also encounter fascinating heritage sites like the ruins of Dunmore House and the grounds of Castle Durrow, adding a sense of history to this idyllic County Laois loop.
Take your pick of pubs, cafés and restaurants in friendly Durrow once you’ve finished the trail.
