Kilkenny Archaeology Society operates from Rothe House in Kilkenny city, County Kilkenny. The building contains an interesting collection of pictures and artifacts of Kilkenny's past.
Genealogy Service: Rothe House is the Family History Centre for Kilkenny city and county. In addition to possessing a detailed computerised genealogical database, they also employ a genealogist who will assist customers in researching their family tree and tracing their ancestors from Kilkenny city and county. Appointments can be booked with the resident Genealogist on Tuesday afternoons from 2.30pm to 4pm (consultations usually last 20 minutes). Contact Rothe House for details.
Library: The Society has built up a superb library over the 50 years of its existence. All the major reference works relating to the city and county of Kilkenny are held, as well as many hard to find minor publications. Among its more important holdings are runs of local newspapers through the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Staffed opening is provided by library volunteers at the following times:
April - October 10:30am - 5pm (Mon to Sat), 3pm - 5pm (Sunday)
November - March: 10:30am - 4:30pm (Mon to Sat)
Non-members of Kilkenny Archaeological Society are welcome to use the library facilities for a small fee.
