The Green Barn is set in the mature parkland of Burtown House & Gardens in County Kildare. It overlooks the walled kitchen garden. It is easily accessible as a quick brunch or lunch stop, for a more relaxed luncheon style affair, or for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Green Barn in County Kildare combines large open spaces with high ceilings and expansive wall spaces, with movable panelled partitions to create that more intimate perfect space for any size of group. The Green Barn is based on old style Scandinavian barns with a New England twist, combining high ceilings, rustic textures, individual table settings, and specially designed pottery, linen and cutlery. The Green Barn believes in serving honest, unfussy, unpretentious food, letting the produce be the strength in what you eat. Seasonal ingredients are used, combining seasonal ingredients, using flavours, textures, and colours, experimenting all the time, hence offering changing menu’s that reflect what is happening in the garden.

This all opens out onto an exterior terrace, and again into a series of courtyard spaces that each tell a different story and create a different ambience. There are areas reserved for parents with children and areas that are reserved for guests who would like to dine with the more relaxing sound of the surrounding wildlife and old world jazz music. Head Gardener Dermot Carey overseas the production of organic produce. Only the freshest possible seasonal produce is served, and has almost always come straight from the organic kitchen garden that very morning.

The Green Barn’s interior spaces are rustic and contemporary, with an amazing view of the kitchen garden. Normally with different art exhibitions, large photos from the acclaimed Vanishing Ireland books, as well as sculptures from Zimbabwe and by Irish artists, with French and Dutch antiques sourced specifically for The Green Barn. There is also an ever expanding array of interiors accessories, food products, books, prints and every changing objects de art.
