The Killarney Golf & Fishing Club is a members club at heart. It is located within the Killarney National Park and is surrounded by one of the Lakes of Killarney. Beginning with 40 members at the club's inception in 1893, membership has grown over the years with an extended community of members who are passionate and proud of their club and golf courses. It has two 18-hole championship courses as well as the shorter Academy Course, which is a 9-hole golf course.
All three of its courses are built to modern specifications with sand based greens and tree lined, undulating fairways. The Killeen Course is considered the flagship course of the club, it is slightly longer with faster greens, which have been brought closer to the water hazards around the course.
Long accurate shots will be rewarded on this course. While the Mahony’s Point course is the most scenic and friendly of the three courses, it offers a challenge to golfers of all standards. The Academy Course is a 9-hole, classic par 36 course and it offers a variety of tee boxes for all skill levels and is a popular choice for golfers looking for a quick round of golf. An interesting challenge on all three courses are the ever present red deer, Ireland’s native deer, they add a unique experience for visitors and members alike.
Killarney Golf & Fishing Club facilities include a driving and practice range which have indoor and outdoor driving bays and the facilities are floodlit. Short game facilities include a large putting green, chipping greens, pitching greens and practice bunkers, it offers an ideal place to sharpen your game. If you need help from a pro, experienced PGA professional Mark Heinemann is available for private or group lessons. Mark offers comprehensive coaching programmes for golfers of all abilities from beginner to elite level.
After an exhilarating round of golf, you can retreat to the comfort of the clubhouse and experience all that The Horseshoe Bar and Restaurant has to offer. It provides the ideal setting to enjoy modern Irish cuisine served in a casual setting, surrounded by spectacular panoramic views of the golf course, lakes and mountains of Killarney.
