Dating back to 1995, the Garden of Europe is a splendid space found in Listowel, County Kerry. It features more than 3,000 trees and shrubs and has 12 sections that represent the 12 members of the EU when the project commenced.

At the lower end of the garden is Ireland’s only public monument in memory of those who died in the Holocaust and to all victims of injustice and oppression.
The other end has as its focal point a splendid bust of the poet Schiller, who was the author of the European anthem the ‘Ode to Joy’, which was set to music in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
The Garden of Europe is open all year round.
