This exhibition engages with the histories of the Atlantic Ocean as a site of migration. It treats the water as a terrain of mythological recovery that encapsulates stories common to Irish and Black people. The featured works generate a symbolic lens by which to imagine a ‘mythatlantic family’, and address themes of familial relationships, diaspora, and sense of place and belonging.
This exhibition is produced by Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh, Co. Cork in collaboration with Galway Arts Centre as part of a nationwide tour, funded by the Arts Council. It is curated by Miguel Amado, director of Sirius Arts Centre.
