Located 8km off the coast of County Clare, Inisheer is an island of sheer beauty embedded in Irish history. Make your way to Cnoc Raithní and uncover the Bronze Age burial mound that dates back to 1500BC. Archeology buffs will also love Teampall Chaomhán, the partially buried ruins of a Medieval church. Go back in time and roam the imposing 16th Century Caisleán Uí Bhríain, a tower hidden within a Stone Age fort.
Walk the sandy beaches on the north side of the island, paddle in the refreshing waters and soak up the stunning vistas of Connemara. Visit the eastern shore to explore a shipwreck and look out to the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren.
Attend workshops and exhibitions at the arts and cultural centre, Áras Éanna. Be sure to visit in August to check out the traditional currach boat races.
