Portsalon Beach, on the Fanad Peninsula in County Donegal, is a very extensive sandy beach shelving gently towards the Atlantic Ocean.
Portsalon Beach, also known as Ballymastocker Strand, is approximately 1.5km long. The beach lies along the R268 between Rathmullan and Fanad Head and is approached via a twisting cliff top route along the side of Croaghaun Mountain with exceptional views of the beach on approach.
Portsalon Beach is an absolute gem, and even though it was voted by The Observer as the second most beautiful beach in the world, it never gets overcrowded.
The beach is lifeguard patrolled throughout the bathing season. Lifeguard patrol times are displayed on the noticeboard.
