Taking just 1.25 hours to complete, the Esknamucky Walk within Glengarriff Nature Reserve is a delight. This stunning nature reserve’s woods are nestled in the sheltered glen that opens out into Glengarriff Harbour. The rugged Caha Mountains, with their millennia-worth of sheer rock layers, rise beautifully above the woodland.
Traversing steep footpath, forest track, steps, a stone bridge and some public road, the Esknamucky Walk is a moderate trail that requires good walking boots. Climbing 80m over the ascent, walkers will enjoy a number of viewing points on route that boast unrivalled views of the wild mountains and woodlands.
Looping back to Glengarriff Nature Reserve’s car park, pop into pretty Glengarriff itself for a coffee or a meal in one of its many friendly pubs, restaurants or cafés.
