Nestled behind historic stone walls within 170 hectares of woodland near Kilrush, County Clare, the Vandeleur Walled Garden formed part of the Vandeleur family estate in the 19th century. The charming collection of plants provides a fascinating glimpse into the past, with the garden specialising in flora that thrives in this unique microclimate. Additional attractions include water features, a maze, a giant chess set and an elegant Victorian style glasshouse.
The contemporary interpretative experience, housed within the refurbished stable block, includes an audio visual presentation exploring the area's history. The gift shop provides a wide range of jewellery, local prints and other locally inspired products.
Plants are also available for purchase, while the Woodland Bistro serves everything from hearty breakfasts to delicious lunches.
