Dromore Wood Nature Reserve, near Ennis in County Clare, was established as a nature reserve because of the diversity and richness of its flora and fauna. It is located north of Ennis Town off the Ennis to Galway road.

Dromore Wood Nature Reserve covers an area of approximately 400 hectares (1,000 acres), near Ennis in County Clare. Dromore Wood was established as a nature reserve because of the diversity and richness of its flora and fauna. This richness comes from the fact that it has many different habitat types. These include a river, lakes, turloughs, callows (flooded meadows), limestone pavement, fen peat, reed beds and species-rich woodland.

The reserve also has historical and archaeological aspects. The 17th century O'Brien Castle is still standing by the lake edge. There is also the site of Cahermacrea Castle, the site of Killakee Church, two ring forts and a lime kiln.

Guided Tours can be organised by advance arrangement with the centre, for a maximum of 30 people during Summer. A self guiding booklet is available from he Visitor Centre during opening hours.
