The National Famine Way Commemorative Walk spans six days, starting with a re-enactment of events leading to its creation. Walkers will be joined by schools, traditional musicians, entertainment, and costumed enthusiasts. Join for the full 165km or part of it, beginning at the National Famine Museum, Strokestown Park, Roscommon. Preceding the walk is the Canadian Wake, echoing the American wake tradition, with award-winning author Marita Conlon-McKenna.
The route, marked by 30 bronze shoes, stretches from Roscommon to EPIC, The Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin’s Docklands. Walkers can use a free app for stories or buy a passport for stamps.
