Overlooking the cobbled courtyard of historic Kilkenny Castle, Kilkenny Design Centre has a daytime restaurant, a foodhall and an evening restaurant Anocht from Thursday to Saturday. Nocht Restaurant pride themselves on the quality and variety of the food and one of Ireland's most respected food writers, Georgina Campbell, deemed our food "worth travelling for".
Inspired by the wealth of the Kilkenny food trail, they have now opened their upstairs restaurant in the evenings at the weekends. The room upstairs has undergone a subtle but noticeable transformation with new furniture and lighting, as well as linen drops that create intimate spaces and never before seen paintings by renowned artist Jane O’Malley on the walls.
The menu has been created by chef Paul Cullen, in conjunction with the established Kilkenny Design kitchen team. The offering is modern Irish and draws together the best of these local producers with dishes like Knockdrinna goatscheese tartlet, Milleeven honey glazed pork belly and Paul’s chocolate fondant with Cramer’s Grove ice cream.
The wines are supplied by le Caveau wine merchants in Kilkenny. They source their wines from independent artisan winegrowers who are working their land with passion and respect for the environment. They believe that hard work in the vineyards results in healthy, delicious fruits which, in turn, require very little intervention in the winery.
