You are invited to look at, and listen to, some of the mesmerising wildlife of Cavan and Leitrim with your guide, Heather Bothwell of Blue Damsel Discovery, who herself lives near Killeshandra. Heather, a keen naturalist all her life, is pleased to share her local knowledge and passion for the countryside.
Listen to and learn about spring birdsong along the Cavan lakesides and in the woods, and enjoy the colours and aromas of spring wildflowers on the bloom. At certain times of year, the area is alive with dragonflies and damselflies performing graceful aeronautics.
In winter, Cavan's typical climactic mildness attracts feeding ducks and swans from northern Europe. In the late summer/autumn, you can observe the intricate magic of wild spiders, or catch some interesting moth species for observation.
